I had bought a book just before school was out called Going to the Zoo and saved it until the week before we left. I took it out one day and explained to Ivey that Daddy was going to take us to the zoo... She was thrilled! She memorized the entire book, which was written like a song, and ready it MULTIPLE times daily! This was the perfect age for her to have this experience.
So on Thursday, we left MawMaw and PawPaw's to make the trek to Nashville...

It didn't take long for Ivey to decide she wanted out of the stroller and be Miss Independent! The zoo wasn't crowded at all (because most people had sense to stay out of the heat) so she was find walking along with us.

Can't remember what this was... but I do remember that Ivey wasn't worried about the animal as much as she was worried about seeing the turtle in the water below...

Until this one pooped right in front of her... she looked at me and said, "Look, Momma! That's gross!" HA!
We knew going to the zoo in July would be hot.... but I don't think our bodies were prepared for how miserably hot it was going to be... Thank goodness, Nashville Zoo was heavily shaded in most parts. However, you can tell from the pictures that we were pretty well zapped as the day progressed. More pictures of the last half of the day soon....
